What I wore: to a cake and karaoke party!

Hi all! How's it going? We're officially in December now and SUMMER actually began today in New Zealand! Whoop! Though in FOUR days I will be "leeeaving on a jet plane" to spend two and half months back in Wales!

Time has been flying by - with markets, parties, birthdays, Christmas parties and events and one whole Sunday afternoon lounging in the hot tub at a friend's house (THAT was pretty sweet!!). The weather has been fantastic (on the whole) so it's been very strange packing Uggs and jumpers into my suitcase!

On Saturday (after a busy day at a market, which i'd irresponsibly turned up to after 5 hours sleep and with a hangover!!) I went to my friend's birthday 'cake and karaoke' party.

Here's what I wore, including the amazing new necklace I bought myself at the market that day. I <3 it!
Shirt, Dotti; Playsuit, Cotton On; Leggings, Glassons; Shoes, Siren; Bag, Witchery.
Earrings, Diva; Necklace, Craft Me Up.

Blurrrry eyes. Nice.

I looove this little guy! He is hand painted ceramic by an 'old man in Thailand' apparently and there are only two of them in NZ! I snapped him up IMMEDIATELY :)

His little hand painted face!! Super cute!

Ring, Primark; Watch, Michael Kors; Skull bracelet, Shh By Sadie; Gold bangle, Hay Luv.
Shoes, Siren.
I've been buying some treats for my holidays as well as some (ahem) essential things such as a new Marc Jacobs laptop bag which arrived today. I just hope it fits my laptop cos I didn't measure it first! EEK!

Will post pics tomorrow! How have YOU started December?? :)

Toast Martinborough

Last Sunday some friends and I went to the annual Toast Martinborough wine and music festival held over in the Wairarapa. This was my second trip to Toast and I was still amazed by the crowds that attend.
Tickets sell out in less than two minutes every year and some people dress up as though they are going to the races - it's all about the sunshine, wine, food and music. The events are split up amongst around 10 different vineyards and you wander around enjoying the atmosphere.

This year I DROVE! Yes you may wonder WHAT THE HECK was I doing driving to a wine festival!!

My reasons were:
A) I'd spent all day Saturday feeling rubbish after being wasted on Friday night at the Hall of Fame dinner.
B) I hadn't booked a coach ticket and I couldn't be arsed to faff around and having to be at a certain bus stop at a certain time.
C) I figured it also saved calories!
D) Well I could still enjoy the sun and music!

Here's a couple of pics from the day:

Me and my friend Rachel. I don't like this pic of me, my arm looks weird!!

Check out the crowds!

These babies stayed on for a few ours. Then I put on the Havianas!

We watched Ladi6 here - but the crowds were too much and the queues at the bar were ridiculous so we moved on after a while!

Diet Coke cheers!!

Gotta love sunny spring days :)

Sweet FA - Some Pics!

Hello there! Well this time last week I was up to my eyes in clothes and feeling very sweaty indeed (YES TMI!!). Sweet F.A. was a week ago today and I am still trying to get rid of the unsold clothing - what a long drawn-out process it is :)

It was such a busy time getting ready for the event that I didn't get a chance to take any photographs which I am SO annoyed at myself for. SAD FACE. My friend Kath did snap a few but they're not the best - they WILL give you a general idea of what it was like though.

We had over 700 items of clothing, approximately 70 ladies on the night (about three gents too!) and sold over $2000 worth of pre-loved clothing. Wowzers! The event finished at 9pm and then my friends and I had to pack up the clothes we'd spent so long hanging out...that was pretty heart breaking and I flopped into bed with the biggest backache I'd ever felt at 12.30am!

Can you spot the male?! :)

Quick snap of me at my till - and yes that is a cocktail you see!!!!:)

We held the event at Dockside Bar and it was the perfect space :)

Courtney, my 'deputy dawg' at her makeshift desk!

I swore I didn't ever want to see a bag of clothing EVER again, but now we're already in discussions to hold a new and improved Sweet F.A. in March 2012. Watch this space!!!

What I wore: Hall of Fame 2011

Hi all! How are you doing? I have missed keeping up with your blogs this last week. Sweet FA was last Weds (it was great but SO much work - pics soon!!), then on Friday I had a black tie dinner with work. It's an annual event (this is what I wore last year) and is always great fun with plenty of wine. The College I work for inducts famous / successful alumnus into their Hall of Fame each year. This year fashion designer Collette Dinnigan was one of the inductees - she was BEAUTIFUL and also really down to earth when she gave her speech. Her clothes have been worn by almost every fabulous celebrity (eg Halle Berry, Taylor Swift, Nicole Richie, Kate Bosworth, Charlize Theron, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston etc etc!!)

This is what I wore this year:
Dress, Portmans; Shoes, Matalan; Clutch, gift from sister; Earrings and bangles, Diva.

Me with some of my colleagues all dress up! Check out Jeannette's collar, it is a one of a kind handmade piece - fabulous!!

Things got quite messy afterwards and ended up with a VERY SORE HEAD the next day. I stayed in my pjs until gone 3pm!!! Bad times :)
How was your weekend?

PS Two weeks today I will be sat on a plane HALF WAY HOME to Wales!! WOW!!!

Sunday 13 November 2011

2 sleeps, 2 sleeps!

Hey all! Well, BUSY AIN'T THE WORD!!! Just two sleeps till the big event - OMG! And on top of that, I have a black tie dinner on Friday, a full-time job, countless birthdays, my jewelery (3 markets before Dec) AND this new social media commission too. I have been super impressed with my own organizational skills but I'm also SUPER worn out. SO. TIRED.

This weekend the girls and I headed to a bach about 40 minutes up the coast - it had a hot tub RIGHT on the waterfront and I enjoyed several glasses of wine, a dip in the tub and even ran into the sea at midnight. Yes I was letting go of the stress of the last month! Good times. We also sorted TWO cars full of clothing for the auction. We now have over 700 items for sale on Wednesday night!!!!! OMG. And that means rails and coat hangers to hang them all on!!! EEK.

It was pretty grey on Saturday morning, and here are some of the bottles from the night before!
Nice sea view, huh!
The front of the bach was a little weather beaten.

And the neighbour's bach was amazing!

Some of the clothes we sorted....

And more...........!
One of the girls snapped up these "Dorothy" shoes straight away!
The bach had a cool nautical theme.

Some of the clothes I started tagging last night....(some are a lot more exciting than a denim jacket and dungarees, I promise!!)
Now that some clothes have been tagged and hung, the bf can finally reach his shoes again!!!

Tagging headquarters

I've been interviewed for a Wellington newspaper and they wanted a Sweet F.A. related photo, so the bf quickly snapped this before work this morning!
PHEW! I really can't wait for Wednesday night, but until then there's plenty more bag carrying, tagging and sorting to go through....why do I come up with these ideas?! ;)

What I wore: New red jacket!!

Hi all, I wore this outfit to dinner last week with the bf. With how busy we both are lately I feel as though we haven't seen each other, so it was nice to go out for a spontaneous dinner. (It was also useful because we ate at The Tasting Rooms which are sponsoring my event, so I dropped some posters off at the same time. Multi-tasking all the way!)
Jacket, Glassons, Tunic, TK Maxx, Leggings, Glassons.
Earrings, Diva.

Watch, Michael Kors, Ring, Topshop, Bangle, Primark.
Nail varnish, OPI

Bag, TK Maxx, Shoes, Next

Close up of the hair 'do' - I'd plaited the front of it :)

Well this morning I have already received around 15 emails from women wanting to submit clothing into the auction next Weds. The deadline was two days ago but the event was picked up on a really popular Wellington 'what's on' newsletter so word has spread like wildfire. O.M.G! I have had very little sleep already this week and can't believe how busy I let myself get! My friends and I are all heading away for the weekend straight from work, (most of us are catching the train too!) - one of us is driving a car load of the clothes down so that we can sort and tag them this weekend. Busy times. Just 5 days till the big night though!!

What are your weekend plans?

What I wore: Bright Blue!

Hey all, thanks for your supportive comments about my jewellery. I dropped off an order to the White Room Gallery (who are stocking my jewellery) today and came back with another order for five more pieces AND a job offer of looking after their social media! I won't have time to sleep soon, but when people are offering you money, you can't be turning it down, right!?

This is something I wore to work (and then to the Mighty Mighty Market - see here) last week. I bought the shirt from Recycle Boutique for about $18 and it is originally from Sussan. I love shirts and I loved the colour so I was pretty happy :)

Shirt, Sussan via Recycle Boutique
Leggings, Glassons
Shoes, Primark
Sunglasses, gift from bf

Ring, Shh By Sadie
Watch, Micheal Kors
Bracelets, Shh By Sadie

Wooden necklace, Asda.

Shoes, Primark. My favourite colour! And don't my feet like teensy!!

Close up of my earrings.
My mirror isn't dirty, honest! It's just a VERY old mirror and has started deteriorating.
